The problem
Manual steps in the validation team’s workflow had become a bottleneck at a technology company. They slowed the overall validation effort, and with it the pace of product development.
What I did
As a principal solutions engineer, I worked with R&D and directly with customers to find where the workflow was losing the most time. I designed a solution in Tcl and wrote a custom parser to automate the validation process. I implemented it, tested it across several use cases, and then deployed it at a customer for beta testing.
The result
The automation saved three months of development time and raised efficiency by 20%. It was added to the product backlog and turned into a feature in a later release. It showed me how far a small, targeted technical fix can go, and made me an advocate for letting engineers close the gaps they see.
